Fact: Most home search websites look almost exactly like they did 20 years ago.
You open the page, type in a city, set a few filters, and start scrolling through an endless grid of listings and annoying ads. Zillow launched in 2006. Redfin launched in 2004. The technology around us has changed dramatically since then — but the way we search for homes mostly hasn't.
CurbScout was built to explore what home search could look like in the AI era.
The project was created by Jonathan Boatwright, an Austin entrepreneur who has spent more than two decades building technology in the real estate industry.
Back in 2004, Jonathan built one of the first modern home search platforms for his new brokerage called Realty Austin. The goal was simple: give buyers better tools and better information so they could make smarter decisions. As that platform evolved, it helped Realty Austin grow from a small startup into one of the largest independent brokerages in Texas, eventually reaching more than 800 agents and the #2 market share in Austin before being acquired by Compass.
Are you an Austin-area agent?
CurbScout connects qualified, motivated buyers and sellers with experienced local agents. See if you qualify to join the CurbScout Agent Network.
But even with all the progress in technology, the basic home search experience hasn't evolved much since those early days.
After helping thousands of buyers through the process, it's always felt like the tools should be better than this.
CurbScout is an experiment to change that.
Instead of endless filters and scrolling through hundreds of listings, we believe home search should feel more like having a knowledgeable guide who understands what you're looking for and helps you discover homes and neighborhoods that actually fit your life.
AI finally makes that possible.
We're building CurbScout as a small independent project, initially just in the ATX, but improving it every week. If you find it useful, please share it with a friend who's thinking about buying a home. Early users help shape what this becomes.
And if you have ideas or feedback, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
