The PUD was approved by Austin City Council in 1997 (Case C814-96-0003) and has undergone at least 18 amendments since then. The community is developed across two main sections: Pioneer Crossing West (approximately 350 acres, homes from 2002 onward) and Pioneer Crossing East (homes from approximately 2005 through 2023).
D.R. Horton built the Pioneer Crossing East and Pioneer Hill sections, offering 9 floor plans ranging from 1,519 to 2,720 square feet with three to four bedrooms. D.R. Horton sections sold out in October 2023. Prominence Homes built Creekside at Pioneer Crossing West, a section of 118 townhomes on approximately 12.1 acres.
