What is the Breakaway Park neighborhood like?

Breakaway Park is a 25-acre fly-in airpark community in Cedar Park, Texas — the only residential airpark in the Austin suburbs. The neighborhood was developed in 1977 by Walter Yates, a United States Marine Corps veteran and amateur pilot, who built a private grass runway at the center of the subdivision. The runway was paved with asphalt in 2004-2005 and today operates as Hank Sasser Airport at Breakaway (FAA identifier 40XS), a 3,000-foot by 30-foot private-use airstrip at 897 feet elevation. The airport was renamed in 2014 in honor of pilot John Henry "Hank" Sasser. As of December 2021, 23 aircraft were based at the field — 22 single-engine and one multi-engine — and the airport provides fuel and oxygen services to residents.
