Barton Creek North Rim is a gated residential enclave within the Barton Creek North community in west Austin, Travis County. Barton Creek North encompasses approximately 2,500 acres and is one section of the broader 4,000-acre Barton Creek development, which has been master-planned since the late 1980s. The master developer is Stratus Properties Inc. (formerly FM Properties, a Freeport-McMoRan spinoff that was renamed in 1998). North Rim is one of eleven gated sub-communities within Barton Creek North.

The neighborhood is accessed via Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) and Loop 360 (Capital of Texas Highway), approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown Austin in the ZIP code 78735. Homes in North Rim were primarily built between 1999 and 2001 and consist of custom single-family residences ranging from approximately 5,800 to 7,100 square feet on lots up to one acre.

Barton Creek North is governed by the Barton Creek North Property Owners Association (BCNPOA), a 655-member master association managed by RealManage with a nine-member volunteer board. North Rim also has a separate sub-association that manages its gated entry. All construction, additions, landscaping, and lighting changes require approval from the Master Architectural Control Committee, which conducts a 30- to 45-day review process.
