Yaupon Club is a residential neighborhood in the city of Lakeway, in the Lake Travis area of western Travis County, within the 78734 ZIP code. The neighborhood takes its name from the Yaupon golf course, one of the original courses developed as part of the Lakeway resort community.
The city of Lakeway was developed beginning in the early 1960s on a 2,700-acre ranch that had belonged to Houston oilman Jack (Jake) Josey. A group of Houston investors opened the Lakeway Inn and Marina in July 1963 and laid out a residential community around it. Property owners voted to incorporate in July 1974, creating the roughly 1,200-acre village of Lakeway. The Yaupon course, designed by golf architect Leon Howard, is an 18-hole, par-72 layout; together with the neighboring Live Oak course it forms the 36-hole Clubs of Lakeway.
